DESERT DUNS HORSE ASSOCIATION

Desert Duns Horse Association was established in 2006, we wanted to break the Breed Barriers for our dun factor horses, formerly primitive wild mustangs.  Dun Factor horses are remarkably hardy animals, real survivors, and are apart of American History.   Here is an example of a dun factor horse, aka Zebra Dun.

Primitive Striped Duns

This is our association's home page.  We have posted photographs, breed profiles, CHARACTERISTICS and breed directory of the Primitive Striped Zebra Duns from the 10 WESTERN US HMAs.  These Dun Horses families have been tested by Dr. Gus Cothran of the U of Ky and has confirmed that these horses have genetic markers unique to horses of Old Iberian descent, the dominant dun gene coloration and primitive Iberian markings. "Join up" with the Association and post about your DUN FACTOR horse or formerly wild mustang, and download your mustang photos.  This site has information links on how to tell if you have a dun gene horse. Dun Factor Horses are different than Dun Colored Horses. A Buckskin is not a dun factor horse.
